Middleware Analyst

This position is for the role of Middleware Administrator. The successful candidate will collaborate with production control, tools and configuration services to manage and maintain the IBM tools, middleware products and services, automation tools on premises and in the cloud.

Experience in Configuring, Monitoring and Tuning IBM Middleware products in HA / clustered environments. Proficient in UNIX and Shell scripting. Very good understanding of the Java development environment. Proven mastery of troubleshooting techniques and ability to solve problems quickly in a high-pressure environment. Must have excellent decision-making skills, especially when imperfect information is available. Must foster an environment of learning, progression, and accountability. Ability to function as an effective team member.

As a Middleware Administrator you will work with other groups in the IT department to support all the Middleware Interfaces and will serve as a lead in helping drive technology and new initiatives as best fit for a competitive environment, develop and communicate plans and expectations for the support of the infrastructure, and monitor and provide continual feedback to management regarding system performance, project updates, etc.

The individual in this role will have the following responsibilities:

  • Install, upgrade and patch IBM WebSphere MQ.
  • Configure and administer MQ objects.
  • Create the necessary application-specific infrastructure with channels/queues in the IBM MQ Manager.
  • Monitor application specific queues.
  • Work on incidents / change, troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis and provideproject support for IBM WebSphere MQ, API Connect 10 and APP connect.
  • Install, upgrade, patch and administer APP Connect, JCA Adapters for SAP interfaces.
  • Use Toolkit (development GUI) to import/export/deploy projects.
  • Manage (Install/Uninstall/Upgrade) TLS Certificates.
  • Install, upgrade and administer API Connect 10.
  • Define Rest and SOAP API.
  • Good proficiency in CLI and shell scripting in AIX/Linux. Also have experience in maintaining required AIX/Linux environment for running applications and database connectivity.
  • Experience working with UC4 and Autosys job automation tools.

Middleware Administrator will ensure working knowledge of various Middleware and IT tools, configuration, management and work to implement the organization’s vision towards optimization and productive simplified solutions. As part of their duty, perform extensive research and analysis to attain the best practices, gather and analyze data to identify areas needing improvement, recommend proposals, and implement solutions in problem areas, under the guidance of TPO Operations.

Collaborate with global peers, identify the industry best practices, and present to client management the recommendations, while meeting the company compliance requirements.

The tech will anticipate, address, and enable automation solutions, so the resources are optimized, and down time minimized.

Work with process office to create documentation following best practices, championing procedural participation, and improve the automation and middleware solutions on a consistent basis. This role will bring IT knowledge and expertise, process skills and business acumen to execute and improve upon the existing tools and middleware functions.

The successful candidate will possess problem solving and decision-making skills together with excellent organizational and support management skills.

Required skills:

  • 5+ years experience with IBM Middleware Products: IBM MQ. IBM App Connect/Integration Bus.
  • 3+ Years experience working with APIC.
  • Experience in operating system and shell scripting in AIX/Linux.
  • Experience troubleshooting and remediation of defects and error scenarios.
  • Familiar with general security concepts (authentication, authorization, encryption, digital signatures) and SSL/TLS.
  • Experience with UC4 and Autosys tools.

Education:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree or technical institute degree/certificate in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another related field.
  • Or equivalent work experience with High school diploma or GED equivalent
